ABOUT CHIROPRACTIC
Chiropractic is a natural,
noninvasive, drug free healing art. Although
the discipline as we know it has been around
since 1895, chiropractic is an ancient form
of healing, with its roots of manipulation and
bone-setting dating back thousands of years.
Some people believe that the "laying on
of hands" by Jesus was actually a form
of chiropractic. Ironically, Hippocrates, the
father of medicine, was actually a chiropractor
himself.
Chiropractic also has
a scientific base with numerous studies showing
its efficacy, "meaning how well it works",
in the treatment of such ailments as:
• Headaches
• Low Back Pain
• Childhood Ear Infections
• Asthma
. . . and many others.
Doctors of Chiropractic get to the root cause
of the problem, rather than simply treating
symptoms that some other health care professionals
do. Chiropractic gets to the root of the problem
by understanding that the nervous system controls
the entire body—from the top of your head
to the bottom of your feet and everything in
between.
When there is a misalignment
of the spinal vertebra, the integrity of the
nervous system is breached, causing the disruption
of the message traveling to and from the brain.
This can effect muscles, organs or glands. This
condition of misalignment of spinal vertebra
is known as subluxation or segmental dysfunction.
Chiropractors detect and then eliminate the
source of the breach in the nervous system.
Many methods are utilized to actually detect
a subluxation. Kolashinski Chiropractic relies
on palpation (meaning to check and see by pushing)
if a segment in the spinal column is "stuck".
The elimination of subluxation is accomplished
by the chiropractic adjustment.
The adjustment, which is pushing the offending
vertebra back into place, is either done by
hand or with a special tool, called an activator.
At Kolashinski Chiropractic,
most adjustments are done by hand, using little
force as necessary to get the job done.
